CURRENT SHOW
Nigel Grimmer
"Senti-monu-mental"
Exhibition runs from Saturday 21st August to Monday 20th September 2010.
To mark the tenth anniversary of his photographic project "Roadkill Family Album" artist Nigel Grimmer is presenting "Senti-Monu-Mental" a retrospective selection of his alternatives to the traditional family snapshot album.
Nigel Grimmer uses his art practice to explore the relationship between the images we produce of ourselves and the images we see around us, at the cinema, on television or in advertising; and how this relationship affects our sense of identity. Grimmer takes an archive of ephemera from popular culture, such as action figures, dolls and joke shop props and places this into his personal stories.

Artlink’s Centre for Community Arts offers a contemporary gallery space at the entrance to the building. In this space we stage exhibitions by both local and national artists in conjunction with community projects. Exhibitions are changed on a regular basis, most often monthly; and we have a varied programme of events from visual arts to installation and video, so there is always fresh and innovative work on show for visitors to see. We welcome proposals for exhibitions from individual artists, artist groups (established or up-and-coming) and community groups, as we are keen to provide support and encouragement to all involved in the arts.
In addition to the in-house Gallery, Artlink also provide an outreach service where we can stage exhibitions at locations outside of Artlink – for example: offices, museums, shops, community venues, public service buildings such as hospitals and even other galleries. We can cater the exhibition to suit the individual needs of the venue and the intended viewers of the work.
The Artlink Gallery is open to the public Mondays to Saturdays 10am to 4pm.
If artists or community groups are interested in submitting an exhibition proposal for the Artlink Gallery, please see our submission guidelines
